Dr. Charman J. Akina was a passionate physician and humanitarian who demonstrated steadfast commitment to serving the people of Hawaiʻi. He was instrumental in building our foundation at Waimānalo Health Center. His spirit of aloha continues to shape our work today. In 2019, a scholarship fund was established in his memory to carry on his impact in the Waimānalo community.

Students can apply for the Dr. Charman J. Akina Memorial Scholarship through the Hawai‘i Community Foundation 2023-2024 common application, due February 15. Learn more at hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/students
